The seven labours of Hercules/ Jon.

I had to clean a studio space for my final show, as usual Jon and money are not a good combination. So i bought way too much stuff, you could clean the Titanic with everything i got. Yes, that is the house i am renting, and yes it is chintz city. Yes we have 'letters for us' and 'letters for the landlord' baskets. One day i will write about this house, but you might not believe it.

This the mess i had to clean up, it was everything all the second years left, it was so messy a pig would not live there, a rat would rather move, a card board box is a step up. What i am saying is, it was a mess.
The second years left all this art work laying around, which normally means it is for the bin, but since im a nice person i picked it all up and stacked it in the other room. You never know, there could be a modern picasso amongst all that crap.Yes that is oatmeal.

I got paint to paint all this as you can see this is Sunderlands answer to Banksy, does your inner art critic begin to rage?

This was the blue tack wall, or as i named it, 'ow my hand aches from pulling it all off'. Seriously a teenage boy and a subscription to a porn website would have less aching in his hand than was in mine.

This was the room where i stored all the art of the 'artists' who left there work for me to clean and move. I fancied being a curator once, but from all the heavy lifting i don't know...

Anyway im pleased with myself that i got it all done, even though my forearms look like popeye now from sweeping, hanging wallpaper and lifting paintings.

  1. Blah, not sure my ocd could take that. I would have bought twice the amount of stuff to clean all of that over and over, nasty. Can see why even the germy rats would run..haha

  2. Oh man everything looked like a huge mess in vid 1. Laughed pretty hard at the comment about the blue tack wall :) I bet it feels good to have it all clean and finished now though. It's killing me to know what the poster says with the baby holding his fist up? I think hes referred to as success baby or something. It's in the 3rd picture down on your post, next to the door.

    1. I imagine you live in some high rise apartment Jaya overlooking the city with all the stories happening around you to influence your writing. Artists are naturally messy i think or maybe that's an excuse?
Anyway i think everyone is an artist, we all have that creativity in us , it works its way out in different ways, i do know it cannot be hidden.
If you have a cat just put some feather dusters under its paws and get a tiny torch and shine it where its dusty and the cat will do the rest. This also works with housemates, though how you tie feather dusters to their feet is a problem.

    2. i do live on the 18th floor, overlooking many things, Jon. i like the curtains parted when the moon is bright and i get moon light on my flooring. it's peaceful. yeap. there's creative energy in all of us, some just choose to ignore it.

    3. I always wanted to live up high, but in England everything is in streets we don't have those high apartments really. You sounded quite poetic just then in your description, you might be writing some amazing novel one day.

    1. Thanks Terra, cleaning does feel good, well maybe if someone else is doing it while i sit supping a cupper and directing them. That blue tack thing reminds me of a joke.
An army major called his wife to tell her that he would be late home because dirty magazines had been found in the barracks, and the soldiers responsible were facing serious disciplinary action.

"The punishment sounds a little harsh," she said. "After all, most of the soldiers have pictures of women on the walls of their quarters."

"No, honey,," he explained patiently. "Dirty magazines means the clips from their rifles had not been cleaned properly!"

  9. That's so awesome that you were able to turn that place into something so neat and clean! How's your arms? I mean, why would someone put that many damn thumbtacks in a wall? LOL

    1. Thanks Jax, my arms are sore but workable, i can dougie with the best of them. I think the thumbtacks and bluetack is for people to put their art on the wall when they used it as their working studio. Still i could fashion an army of smurfs from that bluetack, not sure what id do with them though. I have my laptop on full volume now to drown out the idiot next door and his top volume skypingl...11pm at night.
